About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 for its Preadmissions Unit. The role focuses on delivering patient‑family centered, culturally competent care while overseeing nursing and allied health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform appropriate patient tests, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Support discharge planning, transition of care, and prioritize assignments to achieve superior patient outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor, providing guidance and feedback to new staff.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and operating medical equipment safely.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse credential.
• Experience delivering patient‑family centered care in a clinical setting.
• Ability to supervise and collaborate with nursing and allied health staff.

Required skills
