Registered Nurse 2 – PACU (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to work in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full‑time position provides patient‑family centered care, supports a diverse population, and ensures high standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response, physician orders, and clinical judgment.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and prioritize assignments to deliver superior care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and operate medical equipment safely.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
