Registered Nurse 2 – PACU (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to work in the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) on a full‑time basis. This position provides patient‑family centered care, ensuring safety, quality, and cultural competence in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and clinical observations.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic tests to determine patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Assist with discharge planning and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, guiding them in clinical practice.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Pediatrics Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
