Registered Nurse 2 – Operating Room – Per Diem

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to provide per‑diem support in the Operating Room. This position delivers patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent manner, adhering to evidence‑based standards of quality, safety, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and evaluate treatment plans.
• Report changes in patient condition, vital signs, and symptoms.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and culture.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources effectively.
• Operate appropriate medical equipment and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• No prior experience required; entry‑level candidates are welcome.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
