Registered Nurse 2 – ICU Specialty (Full Time)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Intensive Care Unit. The RN2 will deliver patient‑family centered care, supervise nursing staff, and ensure compliance with evidence‑based standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while respecting cultural and age considerations.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and resource coordination.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff and ensure safe operation of medical equipment.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred (ASN graduates have 2 years to complete BSN).
• Valid Florida Registered Nurse license.
• ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and nursing care methods.
