Registered Nurse 2 – Gastroenterology

About the role

The Registered Nurse 2 in Gastroenterology provides clinical and operational nursing support to the Chief of Gastroenterology and the division’s practice. The role focuses on patient care coordination, clinical triage, procedure preparation, follow‑up, and communication among patients, providers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Review diagnostic tests, consult with physicians, and adjust treatment plans based on patient response and orders.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, providing feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
