About the role

The Registered Nurse 2 provides patient‑family centered care in the UHealth Transfer Center, delivering culturally competent services while adhering to evidence‑based standards of quality, safety, and service. This full‑time, flexible‑shift position supports a diverse patient population and oversees daily nursing practice.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and clinical assessments.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to evaluate patient status.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and nurture a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning using available resources.
• Prioritize assignments, seek assistance when needed, and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, guiding them in patient care.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Applicable certifications as required by the department.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols.
