Registered Nurse 2 – Critical Care Unit (CTU) – Deerfield

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 2 to join the Critical Care Unit (CTU) in Deerfield. The RN will provide comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients, ensuring safe treatment and coordination with the healthcare team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, document nursing care, and monitor vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and report diagnostic test results.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary staff to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural needs.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and transition of care.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff, offering feedback and guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate.
• Minimum two years of nursing experience.

Required skills

• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• Chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration certification.
