About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 – Specialty – On Call to deliver patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent environment. This position supports a range of specialty services, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and evaluate treatment plans.
• Report symptoms, vital sign changes, and diagnostic test results.
• Modify patient treatment plans based on responses, physician orders, and condition changes.
• Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and culture.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while complying with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources for patient transition.
• Prioritize assignments, adapt to changing demands, and operate medical equipment.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Teamwork orientation and collaborative mindset.
