Registered Nurse 1 – Specialty (On Call)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse 1 – Specialty to provide on‑call, patient‑family centered care. This position supports culturally competent, evidence‑based nursing in a fast‑paced clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and evaluate treatment plans.
• Report changes in patient condition, vital signs, and symptoms.
• Modify care plans based on patient response and physician orders.
• Review and interpret diagnostic tests to guide patient management.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and evaluate care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members in compliance with HIPAA.
• Assist with discharge planning and utilize resources to support patient transitions.
• Prioritize assignments, adapt to changing demands, and operate medical equipment safely.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.
• Valid State of Florida RN license.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
