Registered Nurse 1 Per Diem – Emergency Department

About the role

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Per Diem Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Emergency Department team in Miami. This position provides patient‑family centered care in a fast‑paced, culturally competent environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and diagnostic test results.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments while considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications safely, maintain accurate medication records, and operate medical equipment.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and the care team, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Assist with discharge planning, transition of care, and serve as a preceptor for new staff.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and maintaining a compassionate environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Current, valid State of Florida RN license.

Required skills

• Patient assessment and vital sign monitoring.
• Medication administration.
• Operation of medical equipment.
