About the role

The Residency Registered Nurse 1 – Oncology Specialty provides patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent, evidence‑based environment. This full‑time position works in the UHealth Tower, delivering high‑quality oncology nursing services to a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic test results to guide patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust patient care plans.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests safely, maintaining accurate records per regulatory standards.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning using available resources.
• Prioritize assignments, adapt to changing demands, and operate medical equipment safely.
• Serve as a preceptor, guiding new staff and providing constructive feedback.
• Adhere to university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and maintaining a safe environment.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
• RN license required; ASN degree holders must complete a BSN within two years.
