Refugee Employment Intern – Fall 2026 (Unpaid)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a motivated Fall 2026 Refugee Employment Intern to support its Employment Services team. This unpaid, onsite internship offers hands‑on experience helping refugees, asylees, and other eligible clients achieve economic self‑sufficiency through meaningful work.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with job‑readiness activities such as resume development, interview preparation, and understanding workplace expectations.
• Support Employment Specialists in delivering orientations, workshops, and one‑on‑one coaching sessions.
• Research local job opportunities, workforce training programs, and community resources.
• Coordinate interview scheduling, employment appointments, and follow‑up meetings.
• Maintain accurate client records, update case files, and enter data into agency databases.
• Communicate with employers to confirm interviews, placements, and required documentation.
• Help organize employment‑related events, including job fairs and hiring workshops.
• Collaborate with interpreters and multicultural staff to ensure effective client communication.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in social work, human services, public administration, international studies, business, psychology, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and cross‑cultural communication abilities.
• Genuine interest in refugee resettlement, workforce development, immigration, or nonprofit services.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
