About the role

Evergreen Family Medicine is seeking a Referral Clerk to manage referrals and prior authorizations for its clinics in Roseburg, Sutherlin, and Myrtle Creek. The role supports patient care by ensuring timely and accurate coordination with insurers and external providers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and submit all referral and prior authorization requests in a timely manner.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of insurance plans (OHP, DCIPA, Atrio, Medicare, Medicaid, commercial carriers) and verify patient benefits and PCP assignments.
• Communicate professionally with patients, coworkers, managers, and external providers via phone, email, fax, and in person.
• Document cases, requests, and appointments in the Athena electronic health record system.
• Stay current on medication, procedure, and diagnosis codes (ICD‑10, CPT) to assess medical necessity.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical office or healthcare administration training preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in a medical office, referral coordination, or prior authorizations.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
