Receiving Manager – Warehouse Operations

About the role

The Receiving Manager ensures the receiving department operates smoothly and efficiently. You will lead a team to manage stock intake, maintain quality standards, and support overall warehouse performance.

Key responsibilities

• Receive stock deliveries, conduct bulk stock checks, and ensure security presence during unloads.
• Verify invoice details against received items and confirm accuracy.
• Inspect stock for damages, expirations, and shortages; manage stock rotation.
• Order packaging materials and monitor swell allowance and wastage.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, coaching, and motivation to the team.
• Enforce hygiene, housekeeping, and safety protocols for equipment such as pallet jacks and lifts.
• Maintain equipment service, cleanliness, and safety measures.
• Deliver excellent customer service to representatives and suppliers.
• Build strong relationships with team members, suppliers, and delivery personnel.
• Supervise warehouse assistants and resolve staff issues as needed.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• 2–3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a receiving department.
• Retail environment experience is advantageous.
