R&D Scientist – Refining Catalyst

About the role

We are looking for an R&D Scientist to join our Refining Catalyst team in Attapulgus, GA. The role involves developing new innovative catalyst products for FCC base catalysts or additives, scaling them to commercial scale, and potentially creating deactivation and testing methods.

Key responsibilities

• Execute projects focused on developing new catalyst products for FCC base catalysts or additives.
• Scale‑up and develop these products to commercial scale.
• Design and conduct safe laboratory and pilot‑plant experiments, submit samples for analysis and interpret results.
• Develop deactivation and testing methods as needed.
• Prepare and deliver results to stakeholders through presentations and reports.
• Create standard operating procedures and actively participate in BASF safety programs.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science, or an M.S. with 3+ years of catalyst development experience.
• In‑depth knowledge of research principles, techniques and heterogeneous catalysis formulations; manufacturing knowledge is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, data analysis, organization and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus.
• Digitization skills and proficiency with MS Office tools.
