R&D Engineer Internship – Medical Devices

About the role

The R&D Engineer Intern will perform original design and testing across a broad range of technologies to create new or improved products for the medical device market in Interventional Urology. The intern will also provide technical support to inter‑departmental development teams to meet Coloplast’s business goals. Exact dates depend on school calendars.

Key responsibilities

• Specify, design, verify and validate devices in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standards.
• Perform original design under guidance of project engineers/scientists, develop design specifications, conduct DOEs, verification protocols/reports and other documentation following design‑control requirements.
• Participate in hands‑on problem solving and resolution.
• Create and maintain good records of lab work and test results related to assigned projects.

Required profile

• Pursuing a 4‑year or graduate degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• Undergraduate (sophomore level or higher) or graduate student with successful completion of basic engineering coursework.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis such as two‑sample t‑test and tolerance‑limit calculation.

Required skills

• 3D modeling software (SolidWorks or related CAD software).
• Ability to develop test protocols and synthesize data for test reports.
• Statistical analysis skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
