R&D Engineer (Electrical Distributions)

About the role

ABB is hiring an R&D Engineer in Bloomfield, reporting to a Chapter Lead. The role focuses on developing innovative products and solutions for electrical distribution, working independently with only limited supervision. It is an onsite position.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, propose and implement innovative technology, software and solutions, bringing your own ideas
• Work as an independent, reliable contributor in R&D projects
• Perform a variety of tasks in the assigned area (mechanics, electronics, thermal, software), from concept and requirements through design, implementation, integration and testing, to technology transfer or maintenance and operations
• Document work results so others can maintain and improve them
• Identify areas for product quality improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Power or similar
• 2+ years of experience developing products and their solutions in electrical distribution
• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing implementation of new and modified designs
• Proven ability to analyze test data and solve design issues
• Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment
• Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred
