R&D Electrical Engineering Co-op (Spring 2027)

About the role

ABB is hiring an R&D Electrical Engineering co-op for Spring 2027, reporting to the R&D/Technology Manager. As an intern, you will gain practical experience through various projects, learning by performing tasks as directed and supporting ABB's operations. The work model is onsite or hybrid in Bloomfield, CT, and candidates must live within a 50-mile radius of the office and arrange their own commuting.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teams to support ABB's operations and complete projects on time.
• Use knowledge of customer needs and ABB's offerings to propose solutions that meet customer expectations.
• Take part in team meetings, brainstorming sessions and other collaborative work.
• Seek feedback and guidance from managers and team members to improve performance.
• Analyze opportunities for short-term product improvement, medium-term product development and longer-term technology development.
• Perform technology and engineering assignments in R&D projects, showing independent problem recognition and solution input.
• Stay aware of state-of-the-art technology and ABB products, and understand the technical drivers behind R&D projects.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
• Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
• Ability to analyze complex situations, organize and prioritize tasks, and collaborate with team members.

What we offer

• Pay of $20-$34 per hour, depending on qualifications, graduation year and experience.
• No relocation assistance or stipend is offered.
