Raw Material Operator

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd. is a manufacturer of roofing and building materials, and is hiring a Raw Material Operator for its IKO Glass Fiber facility in Chester, South Carolina. The position is full time within the Production department and involves handling batch and binder raw materials, keeping batch areas clean and reporting issues to engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Responsible for batch inventory, quality and supply to the furnace, and for batch unloading, inspection and documentation
• Clean the batch house and binder area daily and report downtime or scrap incidents to the Furnace Engineer
• Unload and store received batch raw materials in the proper silos, and perform batch inbound inspection, sampling and inventories
• Troubleshoot batch and binder system issues and assist the Furnace Engineer, Quality Manager and Process Engineer
• Perform binder mix and binder area inspections, check operating parameters, and run quality checks for solids, LOI and moisture
• Report binder loss or scrap to the Quality Manager and Process Engineer, and unload and store received binder raw materials
• Maintain binder inbound inspection and sampling, perform binder raw material inventories, troubleshoot sizing system issues and do any other duties assigned

Required profile

• Three or more years of manufacturing experience; prior glass operations experience is beneficial but not required
• Ability to work in a high-temperature environment and to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Shift work: 12-hour rotating schedule including days and nights, with frequent rotation
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights, and to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach and grasp regularly
• Some travel required
