Quality Technician

About the role

As a Quality Technician at Alfa Laval you will ensure that all materials, parts and finished products meet the highest quality standards, ASME codes and customer specifications. You will work on the shop floor, performing inspections, tests and audits to support the company’s growth and commitment to resource efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections and testing of welds and components using PT, MT, hardness readings and visual inspection.
• Verify equipment calibration, hold non‑conforming inventory and notify the Quality Manager.
• Review test reports, post‑weld heat‑treat charts and defect records for compliance.
• Assist with internal and external ASME audits and prepare Non‑Conformity Reports.
• Conduct receiving inspections, document results and support production leads with quality procedures.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED required; college or technical degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience in heat‑exchanger manufacturing quality control or equivalent education/experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work safely on a noisy, potentially hazardous shop floor.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Required skills

• PT, MT, hardness testing, visual inspection.
• WPS, PQR, WPQ, AWS D1.1 knowledge.
• ASME U1a form, National Board (NBIC) compliance.
• Welding inspection, test‑report review, post‑weld heat‑treat chart analysis.
• Internal audit procedures, receiving inspection, MTR handling.
• Use of chart recorders, hydro gauges, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
