Quality Technician (1st Shift)

About the role

Champion Foods, a pizza manufacturer, is looking for a Quality Technician for the 1st shift. Working under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the technician monitors production procedures and parameters to ensure food products meet quality, safety and legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Check and document data for the assigned product line (crust, topping, USDA).
• Check dough temperature and record it on the dough mixer, and check that the metal detector is correct and recorded by the packer.
• Monitor the end of the production line so that finished product weight and proper identification are printed on product shippers.
• Conduct product evaluations in the laboratory, including baking tests, specification parameters and texture analysis, and record findings.
• Calibrate thermometers, scales and pH meters daily.
• Perform microbiology testing for the site, collect swab samples (APC, ATC, yeast and mold), and perform environmental monitoring pathogen/surface swabs.
• Keep the lab and test bake areas clean and perform other duties as required by the manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Previous experience in food manufacturing and/or a laboratory environment.
• Ability to comprehend basic math concepts such as fractions, ratios, temperature tolerances, multiplication and addition.
• Average computer skills with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Ability to keep information confidential.
