Quality Supervisor - 2nd/3rd Shift

About the role

ABB Pinetops is looking for a Quality Supervisor who reports to the Quality Manager and oversees the test, inspection and technician teams. The role ensures compliance with internal, customer and industry requirements in a cost-effective and safe environment, so that only compliant products are released to customers. It is an onsite position covering the 2nd and 3rd shifts, primarily 2nd shift (roughly 2:30 PM to midnight), and supports production.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the 2nd and 3rd shift quality testing, inspection and technician teams
• Manage all aspects of the role in line with guidance from ABB Group, division and business area
• Assess risks and safety hazards and implement plans to protect personnel and equipment
• Work with HR to staff, develop, direct and train the quality team, including cross-training
• Coach employees to evaluate risks, problems and solutions from a customer and stakeholder perspective
• Prioritize prevention over control, drive process management and recommend and implement process and equipment improvements
• Run audits, use analytics to find risks, failures and non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are taken
• Prevent product defects and avoid problems when delivering solutions to customers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent preferred
• 5+ years of professional experience in Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering
• Prior supervisory or management experience, as the role manages about 25 direct reports
• Authorization to work for ABB in the US

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of quality tools such as RCA, 8D and CAPA
• Test techniques and voltage/current testing equipment (current power and protection market) is a plus
• Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office and Power BI is a plus
• Understanding of ISO 9001:2015, IEEE standards and UL requirements strongly preferred
