Quality Manager – Precision Manufacturing

About the role
We are looking for a hands‑on Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) in a precision machine shop serving aerospace, medical device, and industrial customers. The role combines shop‑floor involvement with strategic ownership of inspections, root‑cause analysis, audit readiness, and customer quality communication.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain a QMS compliant with ISO 9001 and AS9100.
- Lead internal audits, maintain audit readiness, and manage document control, procedures and work instructions.
- Oversee incoming, in‑process and final inspections; create inspection plans, control plans and sampling methods.
- Ensure calibration and proper use of inspection equipment; support First Article Inspections and PPAP submissions.
- Lead root‑cause investigations (5 Whys, Fishbone) and own the CAPA process.
- Track quality trends, KPIs (PPM, scrap, rework, on‑time delivery) and drive systemic improvements.
- Serve as primary contact for customer audits and quality issues; collaborate with suppliers to raise quality performance.
- Supervise, mentor and train quality inspectors and technicians.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing a QMS in a machine‑shop or precision‑manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 standards.
- Hands‑on inspection experience with gauges and measurement tools.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct root‑cause analysis and manage CAPA.
- Experience with customer audits and supplier quality programs is preferred.
- Leadership experience supervising small quality teams.
