Quality Management Specialist 2

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Quality Management Specialist 2 to lead and sustain its Quality Management Plan. This full‑time position supports compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and other regulatory standards while driving continuous improvement across clinical and operational areas.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the written Quality Management Plan, policies, and procedures in line with organizational mission and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct periodic reviews of the plan’s effectiveness and revise goals, objectives, and related documents as needed.
• Develop and monitor an internal reporting structure for quality data, ensuring timely multidisciplinary communication.
• Assist committees and departments with performance improvement (PI) planning, monitoring system design, and follow‑up activities.
• Educate faculty, administration, and staff on improvement opportunities, data collection, analysis, and reporting methods.
• Collaborate with Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Healthcare Quality, and Safety officers to identify clinical quality and patient‑safety enhancements.
• Manage submission of patient‑care data for satisfaction surveys and TJC reporting, analyze findings, and implement interventions.
• Validate unit work products, provide coaching, and ensure adherence to excellence metrics.
• Support creation of efficient systems impacting patient care and overall health‑care enterprise.
• Proactively engage regulatory agencies to clarify expectations.
• Partner with senior management to develop, achieve, and evaluate performance metrics.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives for assigned service lines and train new staff.

Required profile

• Experience in quality management within a health‑care setting.
• Familiarity with TJC standards and other regulatory agency requirements.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including risk and compliance functions.
• Strong analytical skills for data review, reporting, and outcome measurement.
• Effective communication skills for education and coaching of faculty and staff.
