Quality Engineer (IATF 16949)

About the role

Components is looking for a Quality Engineer in Traverse City. The role ensures that manufacturing processes comply with the ISO/IATF 16949 quality system, supports the quality team and works directly with customers on complaints and improvements. The Quality Manager has the authority to stop production or shipments and suspend unsafe work, equipment or processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review and update control plans, prepare reports and presentations for problem solutions, monitor processes with quality statistics tools and write work instructions.
• Ensure processes adhere to the ISO/IATF 16949 quality system.
• Lead, coordinate and train quality technicians, including developing work and procedures.
• Review documentation for all PPAPs.
• Contact customers to respond to complaints, attend internal and customer meetings on engineering changes, APQP and new projects, and follow up on corrective and improvement actions.
• Analyze customer complaints, develop countermeasures and coordinate cross-departmental meetings to track them.
• Coordinate contests for the containment and repair of quality issues.
• Other duties assigned by the plant manager, and comply with the group's OSH and environmental policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure; occasional domestic and international travel; manufacturing environment with moderate physical activity.

Required skills

• Control plan preparation, CORE tools (SPC, MSA, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA)
• ISO/IATF 16949 and blueprint reading
• Customer complaint analysis, 8D, 5W/5H, action planning, Gantt charts and database management
