Quality Engineer - Antenna Products

About the role

Kyocera AVX is looking for a Quality Engineer in San Diego to support its Design and Manufacturing teams in improving quality and reliability of antenna products. The role involves working directly with customers, suppliers and other Kyocera AVX Design Centers and Factories.

Key responsibilities

• Understand manufacturing processes for antennas (stamped metal, PCB, FPC, LDS, ceramic chip, ceramic patch, etc.) and their effect on physical and electrical characteristics.
• Work with Design and Manufacturing teams so designs are manufacturable and products meet design specs, environmental compliance and social responsibility.
• Follow the part qualification process for new antenna products and change control for product changes.
• Improve quality through process controls, inspection, data analysis and problem-solving tools.
• Perform failure analysis and process investigations to find root causes.
• Use 8D corrective action reports to close issues with internal and external customers.
• Support Design Centers and Factories with the Quality Management System and ensure compliance with ISO-9001, IATF-16949, IPC-600, IPC-610, MIL-STD-810 and others.
• Travel to other Kyocera AVX locations, supplier and customer sites as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Quality Management, Technical Management, etc.) and prior relevant work experience.
• Strong customer support, written and oral communication, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Manufacturing experience or a quality internship is preferred.

Required skills

• Preferred: quality tools such as SPC, MSA (Gage R&R), PPAP, root cause analysis (fishbone, 5 Why, fault tree), 8D reports and reliability testing.
• Preferred: familiarity with ISO-9001, IATF-16949, IPC-600, IPC-610, MIL-STD-810, RoHS, REACH and Cal Prop 65.
• Preferred: Microsoft Office, Smartsheet and Minitab.
