Quality Assurance Specialist

About the role

The Quality Assurance Specialist I will support Counseling4Kids in maintaining compliance with agency, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, and state regulations for mental health treatment. This is a six‑month contract position reporting to the Quality Assurance and Improvement Director.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct chart reviews, data entry, and documentation tracking to ensure compliance with HIPAA, DMH, DHCS, and Medi‑Cal requirements.
• Process client information requests, manage enrollment/disenrollment in systems such as Exym and NAPPA, and support billing issue resolution.
• Track and resolve outstanding compliance issues, including certification renewals and quality survey calls.
• Participate in quarterly utilization reviews and maintain compliance trackers and reporting dashboards.

Required profile

• BA in healthcare administration, psychology, social work, public health or related field, or AA with at least two years relevant experience.
• Minimum two years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably with familiarity of DMH policies and electronic health records.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Experience using Electronic Health Record systems, specifically Exym, NAPPA, and IBHIS.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and client privacy standards.
