PV Solar Technician II

About the role

ACCIONA Energía is looking for a PV Solar Technician II to join the operations team at the Red‑Tailed Hawk Solar Farm in El Campo, Texas. The technician will ensure the solar plant’s electrical and mechanical systems operate safely, reliably and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on photovoltaic arrays, inverters and battery‑storage equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults while adhering to strict safety and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety analyses and participate in emergency drills.
• Support inventory control, documentation and warranty tracking for replacement parts.
• Operate and maintain high‑voltage equipment up to 345 kV.
• Coordinate with the operations centre and cross‑functional teams to resolve issues promptly.
• Assist with new installations, commissioning and project‑based site work.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in solar, renewable energy or related electrical environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or journeyman certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a U.S. passport.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather, lift up to 50 lb and work night shifts or extended hours as needed.

Required skills

• PV system, inverter and battery‑storage maintenance.
• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of electrical theory, power electronics, substation equipment and control systems.
• Reading schematics, one‑line and wiring diagrams.
• Use of hand and power tools and electrical test equipment.
• Lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and high‑voltage equipment operation up to 345 kV.
