Purchasing Manager

About the role

Applied Materials seeks an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead buying activities, ensure vendor reliability, and support engineering and manufacturing teams across its Santa Clara and Benicia locations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct buyers and expediters to meet company objectives and maintain inventory levels.
• Evaluate vendor reliability, conduct surveys, and manage vendor relationships.
• Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
• Develop and enforce procurement policies and procedures.
• Monitor cost, schedule, and performance of major sub‑contracts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement or a related field.
• 5+ years of purchasing, procurement or supply‑chain experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management and contract administration abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Experience using purchasing software.
• Advanced Microsoft Office application skills.
