Publicity Coordinator – Communications & Marketing

About the role

The Publicity Coordinator will work under the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer to support SAG‑AFTRA’s media relations, both traditional and digital. This position collaborates closely with communications and marketing teams to develop and execute strategic outreach, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with the union’s vision.

Key responsibilities

• Assist domestic and international media outreach, coordinating with the CCMO.
• Write, edit, and distribute news releases, fact sheets, bios, and multimedia kits.
• Manage incoming media inquiries and facilitate timely placement of stories.
• Develop media programs, pitches, briefing materials, and support press events.
• Maintain relationships with media outlets, consultants, and agencies.
• Provide on‑site support for executives at industry and labor events.
• Oversee the media management system (e.g., Cision), conduct reviews, and recommend vendors.
• Support additional Communications & Marketing initiatives as needed.

• Strong interpersonal skills with patience, tact, and the ability to build media relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Detail‑oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast‑paced environment.
