Public Safety Training Instructor – Dekalb RYDC

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Public Safety Training Instructor to lead and deliver staff development courses for the Dekalb Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC). Under supervision, you will design, update, and teach training programs that support law‑enforcement, corrections, firefighting, EMS, and rescue personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Act as lead trainer for public safety staff and coordinate multiple training sessions.
• Develop instructional materials, teaching aids, and update curricula to reflect current standards.
• Administer, score, and record tests and quizzes; issue certificates of completion.
• Inspect facilities and equipment, identify unsafe conditions, and enforce safety protocols during field exercises.
• Maintain accurate training records and recommend course improvements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in law enforcement, corrections, firefighting, EMS, or rescue services.
• One year of experience providing training as an adjunct instructor or field training officer.
• Eligibility to obtain Georgia P.O.S.T. General Instructor certification and any required specialty certifications.
