Public Safety Dispatcher (Extra Help/HE)

About the role
The Extra Help/HE Public Safety Dispatcher provides central dispatch services for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s public safety department. Working in a fast‑paced environment, the dispatcher receives emergency and non‑emergency calls, determines the appropriate response, and coordinates the deployment of officers and other personnel.
Key responsibilities
- Operate computer consoles, video monitoring equipment and communication devices to receive and log requests for assistance.
- Identify the nature of each situation and dispatch public safety officers or other personnel as required.
- Receive alerts from fire, security and environmental monitoring companies and notify the proper authorities.
- Maintain accurate records of calls, dispatches and communications transmissions.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of specialized training in communications or a related field.
Required skills
- Proficiency with computer consoles used in dispatch centers.
- Experience operating video monitoring equipment.
- Ability to use various communication devices for emergency response.
