Public Information Officer – Hindi Project

About the role

The Public Information Officer will support the Hindi Project within the News & Media Division of the Department of Global Communications. Reporting to the Chief of Section or Senior Programme Officer, the role focuses on expanding multilingual outreach to Hindi‑speaking audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Implement information programmes to publicise priority issues and major events, including drafting strategies, coordinating actions, monitoring progress and analysing outcomes.
• Monitor current events, public opinion and press trends across Hindi and multilingual platforms, advising management on appropriate responses.
• Promote media coverage through press conferences, interviews, seminars and other activities, developing media strategies and action plans.
• Produce or oversee production of communication products (press kits, releases, feature articles, audio‑visual materials, etc.) with a focus on Hindi‑language content.
• Draft articles and chapters for UN newsletters, periodicals, reports and books, including Hindi‑language news stories and feature articles.
• Maintain professional relationships with UN departments, language services and external partners to ensure timely delivery of multilingual communication products.

Required profile

• Experience implementing information programmes and coordinating multilingual communications.
• Ability to monitor and analyse media trends and public opinion.
• Proven track record in producing diverse communication materials.
• Strong networking skills with internal and external stakeholders.
