Public Information Intern

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Public Information Intern for its New York Office. The six‑month internship is full‑time (40 hours per week) and may include remote work as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Develop content ideas and social‑media strategies to promote UNEP digital platforms.
• Support global campaign activities and advocacy initiatives.
• Assist in planning and coordinating meetings and events such as UN International Days and the UN General Assembly.
• Create graphics and multimedia materials including infographics, flyers, posters, banners and videos.
• Help with media outreach, press briefings and conferences.
• Monitor and update UNEP external website and internal intranet.
• Prepare reports, stories, presentations and other communication materials.
• Maintain stakeholder and media contact databases.
• Provide administrative support for office coordination, meetings, minutes and presentations.

Required profile

• Available for a six‑month commitment.
• Able to work 40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, on‑site in New York with occasional remote work.
• Interest in environmental issues and public information.
