About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a compassionate Psychiatrist to join the multidisciplinary team at Georgia Regional Hospital in Atlanta. This position provides comprehensive psychiatric care for individuals with behavioral health and developmental disabilities, offering a rewarding opportunity to impact lives daily.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including diagnostic and risk assessments, for patients with behavioral health disorders and intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that incorporate pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and behavioral interventions.
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, monitoring efficacy, side effects, and adherence.
- Provide ongoing psychiatric follow‑up, adjusting treatment plans based on patient progress and clinical outcomes.
- Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and direct‑care staff to ensure integrated, holistic patient care.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical rounds to discuss patient progress and treatment strategies.
- Document all clinical encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely, complying with regulations.
- Offer consultation and education to staff, patients, and families regarding psychiatric conditions and treatment options.
Required profile
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited psychiatric residency program.
- Board certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or eligibility.
- Current, unrestricted medical license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Valid DEA registration.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or severe mental illness.
