Psychiatrist for VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY

About the role

We are seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatrists to deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient mental health services to veterans at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient care including admissions, evaluations, treatment planning, management, discharges and documentation.
• Deliver outpatient services such as new patient evaluations, follow‑ups, management of severely mentally ill patients, and electronic consultations.
• Maintain an average of 6.5 patient bookable hours per day and participate in peer reviews, case reviews, and benefit appeal evaluations.
• Document all care in the VA Electronic Health Record (CPRS/VistA) and ensure compliance with VA policies, patient safety, infection control, and HIPAA/VA privacy standards.

Required profile

• MD from an accredited institution with an unrestricted medical license.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications, DEA license, and NPI.
• U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the federal government.
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary mental health team and meet VA credentialing, immunization, and training requirements.

• Proficiency with the VA Electronic Health Record system (CPRS/VistA)
