About the role

The Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic officer of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, reporting directly to the Chancellor and acting as the university’s second‑ranking officer.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the university’s academic enterprise, advancing excellence in teaching, learning, research, and academic support.
• Oversee undergraduate and graduate education, faculty affairs, institutional effectiveness, academic advising, curriculum development, and academic compliance.
• Lead academic planning, including development of new programs, expansion of graduate offerings, and continuous curricular improvement.
• Champion interdisciplinary learning, global engagement, experiential education, and a culture of research growth toward Carnegie R2 classification.
• Accountable for measurable improvements in student learning outcomes, retention, degree completion, and post‑graduate success.
• Support recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of faculty and academic leaders, including tenure, promotion, and post‑tenure review processes.
• Promote faculty capacity to secure extramural research funding through grant development training and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Collaborate with Enrollment Management to implement data‑informed strategic enrollment frameworks that increase enrollment and improve student persistence.
• Oversee the Division of Academic Affairs budget of over $60 million, ensuring fiscal responsibility within public higher education.
