Propulsion Certification Engineer, Airworthiness

About the role

BETA Technologies is seeking a highly motivated Propulsion Certification Engineer to lead the certification of electric propulsion systems. You will work closely with regulators, internal engineers, and suppliers to define safety standards and manage the certification process.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with FAA and foreign regulators to define safety and certification standards for novel propulsion systems.
• Lead certification activities from basis development through compliance planning, testing, and artifact management.
• Provide critical design feedback on safety and certification concerns to systems and design engineers.
• Maintain communication and diplomacy with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.

Required profile

• BS in a relevant engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of certification experience with the FAA.
• Experience with Part 33 preferred; familiarity with 14 CFR Parts 21, 23, 27, 35, 36 is a plus.

Required skills

• Google G‑Suite, Slack, Ansys, MS Visio, KiCAD, Solid Modeling (Onshape, SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Type Certification Program Planning, FAA Order 8110.4C, 14 CFR Part 21.
• Application Lifecycle Management tools (DOORS, Polarion, JAMA, JIRA).
• Knowledge of ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO‑160, DO‑178, MOC test generation and execution.
