Project Management Intern

About the role

IKO Industries Ltd., a Canadian-owned manufacturer of roofing and building materials, is offering a full-time, 12-month Project Management Internship in Bismarck, MO. The intern supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, executing and commissioning the Bismarck Granule Manufacturing Plant project, gaining hands-on exposure to large-scale industrial construction, equipment installation, plant startup and operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day coordination of construction activities and communication among contractors, subcontractors, vendors, consultants and stakeholders
• Track and maintain schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation, and monitor progress, quality, cost and compliance
• Attend project meetings, document action items and help resolve issues
• Support procurement, forecasting, progress reporting and project closeout documentation
• Assist with pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup and performance testing, and coordinate these activities across vendors, contractors, operations and maintenance teams
• Take part in equipment inspections, functional testing, troubleshooting and punch list management, and prepare minutes, testing records, turnover packages and commissioning reports
• Support operational readiness and employee training, and adhere to safety policies, procedures and regulatory requirements

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and to work independently and in a team
• Willingness to learn and to work in both office and industrial plant settings

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Preferred: familiarity with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6, basic knowledge of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes, and knowledge of LOTO procedures
