Project Engineer – Nuclear Projects

About the role

Amentum, a global engineering firm supporting defense, intelligence, energy and civilian sectors, is looking for an experienced Project Engineer to support its Nuclear Projects team in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The role provides design management support for large-scale, complex projects for clients including the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and commercial nuclear companies, covering nuclear infrastructure, advanced reactors, fuel cycle facilities and national security programs. It assists project managers in executing large nuclear projects in compliance with the contract, ensuring safety, quality, value and timeliness.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project progress, document communications and meetings, and identify and evaluate project issues
• Coordinate activities across project functions and engineering disciplines according to project baseline documents
• Review staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with functional managers and subcontractors
• Support project plans, schedules, effort hours, cost estimates and budgets, and track progress against them
• Coordinate design, procurement, material management and construction on technical and schedule requirements
• Help the Project Manager prepare contractual and technical issue documentation, status and progress reports, and run related meetings

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• 7 years of engineering experience
• U.S. citizenship required
• Previous project engineering experience on at least two medium or large projects
• Strong interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, with presentation and writing abilities
• PMP certification desired but not required

Required skills

• Word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations and project management tools
• Project management and EPCM experience
