Project Engineer II

About the role

Amentum is hiring a Project Engineer II, a union-represented, non-exempt position with the Teamsters at an hourly rate of $57.42. The engineer works under general engineering supervision, performs engineering assessments of systems and operations involving hypergolic propellants, cryogenics, pneumatics and life support equipment, and gives limited technical guidance to technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mechanical integrity inspections of hazardous systems and ensure identified and resolved deficiencies are documented and compliant.
• Prepare, review and implement system designs as assigned by management.
• Manage subcontractors, update schedules, coordinate work and report status to management.
• Perform Process Safety Management (PSM) functions as required by OSHA, including record keeping.
• Produce drawings and figures using AutoCAD and act as configuration manager for critical systems.
• Prepare Engineering Field Instructions (EFIs) and direct technicians in their execution.
• Obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar discipline and four years of experience.
• Previous engineering assignments.
• Knowledge of concepts and practices in propellants or a related area; background in aerospace ground support systems design and testing desirable.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.
• Excellent verbal, technical writing and communication skills.

Required skills

• Thorough knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• AutoCAD.
• Preferred: experience with hypergolic propellants, cryogenics, life support equipment and high-pressure gases, and knowledge of PSM.
• Familiarity with ASME BPVC, AWS welding standards, CGA, DOT regulations, military propellant standards and EWRR 127-1 range safety regulations.
