Project Designer – Architecture

About the role

Perkins&Will is seeking a talented Project Designer to join its San Francisco studio. You will work on a variety of health‑focused, sustainable projects, translating client goals into compelling design solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop schematic designs, presentation drawings, models, and narratives that meet project goals and budget constraints.
• Evaluate design alternatives against site, code, and client requirements.
• Prepare client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
• Participate in internal design reviews, charettes, pin‑ups, and community engagements.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate with partners and consultants throughout schematic and design development phases.
• Review documents for accuracy, compliance, and legibility according to the Project Delivery Manual.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in architecture or a related discipline.
• 8‑10+ years of professional experience in architecture or design.
• LEED Green Associate within six months of hire.
• Professional accreditation in a Living Design area (e.g., LEED AP, WELL AP, BREEAM AP, etc.).
• Preparation for the Architect Registration Exam (ARE) and active involvement in AXPPRO.
