Program Specialist I – Undergraduate Programs

About the role

The Undergraduate Associate Dean’s office at West Texas A&M University seeks a Program Specialist I to support daily operations, student advising, and program coordination. This role blends administrative support with direct student interaction, ensuring smooth delivery of undergraduate programs.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Associate Dean with planning and execution of administrative tasks for faculty, staff, and students.
• Review and evaluate prospective and current student transcripts and monitor curriculum compliance.
• Provide detailed guidance on university, state, and federal regulations to students.
• Track and report statistical data on student demographics and program outcomes.
• Create, update, and maintain advising materials and degree‑plan documentation.
• Hire, train, and supervise student workers.
• Coordinate study‑abroad and recruitment trips, both domestic and international.

Required profile

• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy in data handling.
• Experience supervising student staff is preferred.

• Proficiency in database management and statistical reporting.
• Familiarity with academic advising processes.
