Program Manager - Informatics

About the role

Blue Water Thinking is seeking a seasoned Program Manager, Informatics to lead strategic health informatics initiatives for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The role combines deep expertise in clinical informatics, SAFe® Lean‑Agile practices, and organizational change to deliver high‑quality products and services that improve care for Veterans and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of informatics products and projects, identifying and mitigating risks.
• Develop and oversee project plans, budgets, schedules, and deliverables across multiple Agile teams.
• Consistently apply SAFe® principles throughout the portfolio and adjust operations based on client feedback.
• Collaborate with informatics leaders and high‑performing Agile teams to drive value and sustain organizational change.
• Lead large‑scale projects, manage financial performance, and evaluate resource needs.
• Prepare executive‑level reports and presentations, and serve as liaison between consulting teams and client stakeholders.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to organizational knowledge development.
• Analyze complex project problems and create innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in healthcare consulting, program management, or healthcare analytics.
• Expertise in clinical informatics and managing diverse IT projects.
• Demonstrated understanding of SAFe® Lean‑Agile principles and leading high‑performing Agile teams.
• Experience with full systems development life cycle, enterprise‑wide network engineering, and strategic information planning.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
