Professor of Clinical Pathology & Laboratory Medicine (Orthopaedic)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a full‑time Professor of Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with an orthopaedic focus. The role involves delivering high‑quality diagnostic services across multiple hospitals and contributing to academic and research missions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care services at UMH, JMH, SCCC and satellite locations.
• Perform gross description, specimen photography, tissue sampling, microscopic examination, frozen‑section diagnosis, and autopsies.
• Order and interpret ancillary tests, report findings, and verify coding diagnoses in the system.
• Participate in 24‑hour call coverage as required.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary tumor boards, resident/fellow education, and medical student teaching.
• Engage in collaborative basic, clinical, or applied research and pursue grant funding.
• Support quality‑improvement initiatives and departmental accreditation (JCAHO, CAP, CLIA).

Required profile

• MD or DO, board‑certified or board‑eligible in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic & Clinical Pathology, with orthopaedic subspecialty if applicable.
• Florida medical license.
• Strong knowledge of general surgical pathology and orthopaedic subspecialty, including intra‑operative evaluations.
• Ability to work independently, communicate effectively in a diverse environment, and lead quality‑improvement efforts.
