Professor - Construction Management (Open Rank)

About the role

The Department of Engineering at Abilene Christian University is seeking a tenure-track professor in Construction Management (open rank) to teach, mentor, conduct research and help build the program. The university is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ; the position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to support the Christian mission of the university. Key responsibilities

• Teach foundational and discipline-specific construction management courses and laboratories, using evidence-based methods and leading experiential, hands-on and project-based learning.
• Help improve the curriculum and facilities to support the program's initial accreditation process.
• Build a sustainable scholarly program involving undergraduate students in applied research or scholarly projects, and pursue external funding, industry sponsorship and peer-reviewed publication.
• Mentor students in academics, career planning and professional development.
• Assist the program chair in building industry partnerships and navigating accreditation, and advise student professional organizations and committees.

Required profile

• Master's or doctorate in construction management, engineering, business or a closely related construction field.
• Past record of effective communication, teamwork and planning, and demonstrated potential for scholarly work.
• Preferred: terminal degree in a related field, or a master's degree with substantial industry experience and interest in moving into academia.
• Christian faith and willingness to support the university's Christian mission.

Required skills

• Preferred: classroom or lab teaching experience at the university level.
• Preferred: significant professional experience in construction management, professional certification or licensure, and experience with construction software such as Primavera, MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam, BIM.
