Adjunct Instructor - Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

About the role

Abilene Christian University's Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Department is seeking qualified adjunct instructors to support its undergraduate courses in agriculture-related disciplines. The work can be done online or in person, depending on departmental needs. The university is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ, and the position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the university's Christian mission.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in agriculture and related subject areas.
• Develop a comprehensive course syllabus for each section, aligned with departmental standards and institutional policies; prior teaching materials are often available.
• Provide academic guidance through scheduled office hours or other contact methods and answer student questions by email in a timely way.
• Design and administer exams, quizzes and other assessments with department faculty.
• Maintain accurate records and submit final grades by established deadlines.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student success.

Required profile

• Master's degree or higher in Agriculture or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in an area such as wildlife, range management, agronomy, animal science, agricultural business or environmental science.
• Ability to teach effectively online and/or in person.
• Preferred: prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
• Preferred: familiarity with learning management systems and online teaching tools.
• Preferred: strong communication and organizational skills.
