Production Engineer

About the role

The Production Engineer will ensure robust production support and help scale shipyard processes from low‑rate to high‑volume manufacturing. You will integrate new technical methods, onboard automated production assets, and work closely with software and manufacturing teams to digitise shipbuilding workflows. On‑site training is provided and the role requires work aloft and in confined spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Create and optimise production processes in unstructured areas of the shipyard.
• Support the transition from low‑rate to high‑volume production, identifying necessary changes in processes and infrastructure.
• Prioritise and triage work during peak periods to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Onboard new automated production assets and collaborate on software enhancements that support production.
• Lead the translation of shipbuilding knowledge into a digital, scalable format.
• Follow all shipyard safety policies, including PPE, fire prevention and confined‑space protocols.
• Assist in training other production and manufacturing engineers.
• Collaborate with welders, fitters, pipefitters, electricians and other trades to maintain efficient workflows.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and represent Saronic professionally.

Required profile

• Willingness and ability to work aloft on scaffolds or manlifts and in confined spaces.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with a focus on root‑cause analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and technical specifications.
• Commitment to health, safety and environmental (HSE) results.
• Positive attitude toward customers and teamwork.

Required skills

• Knowledge of shipyard production management systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and sketches.
• Experience with root‑cause analysis and defect disposition.
• Familiarity with quality and compliance documentation.
