Product Cost Specialist

About the role

Chefman is looking for a self‑driven Product Cost Specialist to support new product lines within the CHEF iQ ecosystem. You will develop accurate should‑cost models, track bill‑of‑materials (BOM) costs, and work closely with product development, engineering, and supply‑chain teams to keep products affordable while maintaining quality.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain should‑cost models that reflect the latest product definition at each prototype milestone.
• Track live BOM cost versus target cost, flagging risks and opportunities in real time.
• Review supplier‑submitted costed BOMs for accuracy and alignment with cost targets.
• Generate critical component lists and obtain competitive quotes from supply‑chain partners.
• Negotiate piece‑part pricing, assembly costs, scrap allowances, and factory margins with overseas manufacturers.
• Provide design‑for‑cost recommendations to engineering and product teams.
• Manage tooling budgets, negotiate modification costs, and maintain amortization schedules.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated professional with strong analytical mindset.
• Comfortable collaborating across product development, engineering, and supply‑chain functions.
• Ability to identify cost‑optimization opportunities without compromising performance or consumer value.

Required skills

• Experience with should‑cost modeling and BOM cost tracking.
• Negotiation skills with overseas manufacturing partners.
• Understanding of product architecture, manufacturing methods, and component selection.
